The Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work meets the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid Regulations. All learners will have the knowledge and skills required to provide Emergency First Aid in an occupational setting in a prompt, safe and effective manner.
Course Content:
- Understanding the role of a First Aider, including reference to; the importance of preventing cross infection, the need for recording incidents and actions and the use of available equipment
- Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and efficiently in an emergency
- Administer First Aid to a Casualty who is unconscious (including seizure) and use of the recovery position
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries including; small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters
